Sunoco Railserve Crews Earn “Gold”
Sunoco uses a third-party firm, Railserve, to provide rail and in-plant railcar switching services at our Frankford, La Porte, and Toledo facilities. Each year, these Railserve crews are eligible to receive an award based on their performance using a Frequency and Severity Index (F/S). The comparison of each facility is based on lost time injuries, recordable injuries, cost of injuries, and errors. The index also considers the number of cars handled and number of hours worked at each site.
In 2008, the Railserve crews at Frankford, La Porte, and Toledo sites all achieved a zero F/S index (the lowest and best level possible) and earned Railserve’s Gold Spike for safety performance. The three crews accounted for handling over 35,000 railcar movements with no incidents. |
