Public and private sector security regimes Sunoco continued as an active participant in the American Chemistry Council's (ACC) Responsible Care Security Code and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT. These programs are designed to strengthen the security of our nation's chemical infrastructure and international supply chains respectively.
Transportation Worker Identification Cards (TWIC) The TWIC program was successfully implemented at each of its Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) facilities. This program ensures that access to our MTSA sites is granted to only the appropriate people.
Rail Transportation Security Act The Marcus Hook Refinery successfully implemented security requirements mandated by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for rail receivers of certain toxic substances in High Threat Urban Areas (HTUA). The Marcus Hook Refinery was the only Sunoco site affected by this legislation.
Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) Several sites within Sunoco's refining and supply, marketing and chemicals divisions had to perform to provide basic security information, known as “Top Screens”, to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Toledo Refinery continues to address requirements under this regulation. The refinery recently submitted a Security Vulnerability Assessment (SVA) that will be scrutinized by DHS to determine if these facilities will be classified as “High Risk” and covered under this law.
Some of the Sunoco's retail locations use a sophisticated security system known as IRIS (see sidebar story for more about this system).

Robbery Rate Robbery Rate is the percent of convenience stores that experienced a robbery during a particular year. Robberies do not include gasoline drive-offs (i.e., customer drives off without paying for fuel) and shoplifting.
