| Maintaining safe operations is key to achieving Sunoco's HES excellence goals. Outstanding performance in these areas continues to be a core value and top priority.
Maintaining awareness and focus is key. Our employees and contractors do an excellent job of maintaining focus when engaged in projects and carrying out specific procedures. It is the non-intense, every day situations where maintaining focus can be a challenge.
Overall employee safety performance fell below expectations in 2008. Personal safety and process safety management will receive close attention in 2009 in an effort to return to our best performance levels and beyond.
To do so, we continue to conduct audits (both facility self-assessments and corporate audits), fire prevention assessments, insurance inspections, training and working with our contractors in an effort to eliminate injuries, fires and other incidents. |
