Air permit exceedances represent the number of times that a Sunoco facility exceeded limits contained in permits or regulations. The data reflect the number of times during the year that permit exceedances occurred, including multiple exceedances during the same day, as well as exceedances that lasted longer than one day.

Air Permit Exceedances decreased 41.6% when compared with 2004. Major performance improvements were made at the Bayport (100%), Epsilon (100%), Frankford (80%), and Marcus Hook facilities (42%). The 2006 goal equates to an aggressive 34% improvement.

The increase in exceedances in 2003 and 2004 compared with earlier years is due to modification of Sunoco's exceedance counting methodology.
