Sunoco
2007 Annual Health, Environment & Safety Report

Global Climate Change
Global climate change became a major issue in the mind of the American public over the past year. Since Sunoco began publicly reporting GHG emissions in 1998, our total emissions have decreased 8.5%, due mainly to capital projects and operational changes for improving energy efficiency. During the same period, U.S. economy-wide emissions increased 16%.

Sunoco's Largest Project Ever
In April 2007, Sunoco completed its largest construction project ever. This $525 million modification project at the Philadelphia Refinery fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) not only met all emission reduction requirements, but also enabled the processing of heavier, lower-value feedstock and increased the refinery’s capacity to produce finished products.

HES Performance
Sunoco's HES Performance was good, but fell short of our expectations for continuous improvement.

Major refinery maintenance and capital projects in the first half of the year adversely affected employee injury rates and several environmental performance areas.
